IT’S THE WORST CHILD REFUGEE CRISIS
SINCE WWII. KIDS MEDIA IS STEPPING UP.

Since 2017 Kids Entertainment Professionals for Young Refugees, an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is where our community comes together in support of the 50 million children worldwide displaced by war, ethnic and gang violence, natural disasters, and crushing poverty. Through live and online educational and fundraising events we raise awareness and critical support for these most vulnerable children, from food, clothing, and shelter to medical, psychosocial, and educational services.

FOCUS 2024

ROHINGYA REFUGEE CRISIS

SITUATION OVERVIEW

WHO: ½ Million Rohingya Muslim Children

WHY: Ethnic cleansing by the military regime in Myanmar

NEEDS: Food, water, medical care including immunizations, education, political rights, child-safe spaces (especially for girls)

In 2017 the Myanmar military launched a violent crackdown on Rohingya Muslims in what the UN has described as a "textbook example of ethnic cleansing." The large-scale campaign of killings and other abuses forced over 900,000 Rohingya to flee to neighboring Bangladesh. The United Nations has described the Rohingya as "the most persecuted minority in the world."

Over half of these refugees are children.

After being exposed to unspeakable violence and brutality, they now face extremely dangerous living conditions in the world's largest refugee camp: disease and malnutrition are rampant, education is woefully inadequate, and abuse, exploitation and gender-based violence are constant threats.

These children and their families, with no legal identity or citizenship, rely entirely on humanitarian assistance.

OUR CALL TO ACTION

Organizations such as UNICEF and the UN Refugee Agency are on the ground to provide water and sanitation; health services including immunizations and the establishment of diarrhoeal treatment centers; support for access to quality education; and prevention and assistance measures for children affected by violence, abuse and neglect.

Currently, according to the UN, their efforts there are underfunded by over 50%

Our goal is to raise $50,000 in support of this vital and urgent work.

ALL CHILDREN ARE OUR BUSINESS
